Correction: An earlier version of this story had a broken link and misstated the date community members can submit questions for the upcoming Candidate forum. The mistake has been rectified, apologies for any confusion.
The League of Women Voters of Champaign County has announced via press release that a candidate forum for the upcoming Urbana Primary election will be held on Thursday, January 30, at 7 pm. The forum will take place at the Urbana City Council Chambers (400 S Vine St) and will also be streamed online by UPTV.
Mayoral candidates Annie Feldmeier Adams and Deshawn Williams will be participating in the forum, as will City Council Ward 6 candidates Grace Wilken and William P. Colbrook. The forum will open with a reading from Urbana’s 2024 Poet Laureate, Dr. Ruby Mendelhall.
The forum for each office will last no longer than an hour, and a moderator will ask prepared questions of each candidate. Residents may submit questions in advance by email to Candidateforums.LWVCC@gmail.com. Preference will be given to questions received by January 25.
These candidate forums are cosponsored by the NAACP Champaign County Branch and the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center. Urbana’s primary election will be held on Tuesday, February 25.
